Andre `Stone’ Purlette kept up a more than healthy Knock Out average throughout his career. The cruiserweight/heavyweight Guyanese ended a 16-year career having stopped 81 percent of his opponents.Ed Mosley was included in the 81 percent as he was stopped by the Guyanese on April 25, 1997 in Miami, Florida.
Mosely, an orthodox fighter, could only stand up for three rounds as Purlette won by Technical Knock Out. The victory earned the undefeated local power-puncher his 17 stoppage in 18 fights.
The only person then to have escaped his wrath was compatriot Vidal Rawlins, who was disqualified during a bout in October 1993.
Purlette moved to the United States in 1996 and quickly established himself as a house of power. He would win 23 fights (21 by KO) in his adoptive homeland before securing his first defeat. By the time Purlette’s career ended in 2009 he had won the World Boxing Organization (WBO) North American Boxing Organization (NABO) heavyweight title and recorded 40 victories from 44 fights.
Thirty five of his victories came through the Knock Out route. The `Stone’ resides in Florida and is a registered fitness trainer.
