THE Under-23 knockout tournament tipped off Friday afternoon at the Burnham Court. The tournament is an opportunity for the younger players of basketball clubs to showcase their skills and talents.The first game of the night saw Pacesetters demolish a young, inexperienced Pepsi Sonics team 73-43. Point Guard Jahleel Duke had a monster game with 27 points and Quincy Dos Santos chipped in 16 points for the boys in gold.
Lemuel Grant topscored with 16 for Sonics with Dale Fraser adding 12 points. In the second game of the night, Dynas Ravens were awarded a walk- over as the UG Trojans team could not play due to exams.
In the final game of the night, Bounty Colts defeated Plaisance Guardians in what was a very physical game. Daniel Haynes topscored for the Colts side with 21 points, Johnathan Mangra and Jafar Gibbons both had 14 and 11 respectively.
The semi-finals continued last night with Colts taking on the Eagles team at 18.30hrs followed by Pacesetters vs Dynas Ravens at 20.00hrs.
