GDF, Monedderlust register STAG Elite victories

THE Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Monedderlust Football clubs registered victories over Buxton United and the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) respectively, when round eight action of the Guyana Football Federation’s Stag Elite League came to an end on Saturday night at the #5 West Coast Berbice ground.In the opening encounter, GDF defeated Buxton United 2-0 with the goals coming off the boot of Kennard Simon and Delroy Fraser in the 68th and 92nd minutes respectively, while in the feature game, home side Monedderlust edged GFC 1-0 with a Travis Henry 34th minute goal.

The win for GDF moves the army boys to 14 points in the standings, 10 points behind points leaders Slingerz.
The soldiers to date have won four of their matches while losing two and drawing a similar number with 13 goals for and 12 against for an average of plus one.
Buxton United on the other hand, have five points from their eight matches to date. They won a single game, lost five and drew two. To date, they have scored five goals and conceded 12 for a minus seven average.
During their game on Saturday night, they were reduced to 10 men as Ralph Moffatt was red- carded for abusive language. But before that another Buxtonian player Kwadjo Garnette was shown the yellow card.
Monedderlust’s victory takes them to six points from the victory over GFC and three drawn games. They have lost four of their eight matches. They have scored five goals to date and conceded 16 for an average of minus 11.
GFC is yet to win a match in the League. They have lost seven and drew one and has so far scored six goals, while conceding 22 for an average of minus 16.
