A GUYANESE man was this week caught with 550 grams of cocaine upon his arrival at the JKF Airport in New York.According to reports, Rajendra Ramrattan, 29, of East Coast Demerara was busted with the illicit substance on Wednesday, after he was selected for examination by Customs and Border Protection officers at the U.S. airport. Ramrattan arrived at JFK Airport aboard Caribbean Airlines Flight 524 from Guyana, which made an en-route stop in Trinidad. The man presented a grey suitcase and a brown bag to officers, and a plastic bag was found containing an unknown substance in the pocket of a pair of jeans in his suitcase. He told investigators that he had bought the drugs in Guyana for US$2000, and had planned to sell same in the U.S.
Ramrattan was refused bail.
