Dispatcher granted $75,000 bail

AN AMBASSADOR TAXI Service dispatcher was on Thursday released on bail for allegedly breaking into a Queenstown shop. Jan Clarke of Third Street, Alberttown, Georgetown denied the allegation and was granted $75,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
The Police say that between March 4 and 5, he broke into the shop of Hardial Harripersaud and stole one monitor, seven Pioneer DVD decks, $200,000 cash, a Compact laptop among other items to the value of $960,000, all property of Harripersaud.
Clarke’s attorney pleaded with the court for reasonable bail for his client who is the father of a minor. The lawyer pointed out that Clarke had been kept in custody beyond 72 hours.
The matter was adjourned until April 11, 2016 for statements after Police Prosecutor Corporal Deniro Jones made no objection to bail.
