SANTOS played to 2-2 draw with Police to ensure that their unbeaten record remained intact, while Western Tigers roared to 3-1 win over Northern Rangers in the latest results from the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) STAG Premier League. At the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground last evening, Santos, fielding one of the youngest teams in the League, scored both of their goals in the first half, with the first coming off the boot of Dellon David in the 30th minute while Dwayne McLennon scored the other in the 34th minute.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) team had taken an early lead in the match, scoring just six minutes into the contest through Keron Boston but terrible defending, coupled with Santos’ aggressiveness, resulted in the lawmen tailing 2-1 at the end of the first half.
The score remained the same until Lerone Charles’ effort in the 90th+2 minute pulled one back for Police as they held on for the draw.
Meanwhile, Shane Morris (20th), Phillip Rowley (51st) and Dellon Kelly (87th) ensured that Western Tigers remained on top of the league when they helped the West Ruimveldt team to another win.
Northern Rangers’ lone goal came from Nigel Denny in the 13th minute.
Despite their unblemished record, Santos are still second behind Western Tigers (five wins, one loss) on the points table with four wins and two draws to tally 14 points.
