SADEEK Mohammed, 53, of Crabwood Creek, Corentyne Berbice, was yesterday fined $70,000 with an alternative of nine months’ imprisonment, after being convicted as a ‘trunker’ (one who steals from unattended motor vehicles).
He pleaded guilty to simple larceny before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, admitting that on March 7 at Brickdam, he stole a pair of Perry Ellis sunglasses, a quantity of clothes, and other items totalling $266,000, property of Mohammed Khan.
Police Corporal Deniro Jones said the convict stole the booty from a parked vehicle, and was caught by public-spirited persons. He further noted the Mohammed confessed to stealing the items when confronted.
