HAND-in-Hand Insurance Company joined the list of sponsors for the Young Warriors Cricket Club (YWCC) Mash Cup. The rescheduled tournament is billed for March 20 at the Cumberland ground. At a presentation held recently, Eshwarie Persaud, employee of the New Amsterdam Branch, said that her company is happy to be associated with the tournament.
She added that the club continues to produce outstanding players with the latest being young batting star Shimron Hetmyer, who successfully led West Indies to the Youth World Cup glory in Bangladesh.
Collecting the sponsorship cheque on behalf of the club, Hetmyer thanked the company, and pointed out that sponsorship is of the utmost importance for the development of the game.
He encouraged other young and aspiring cricketers to work hard since the game has lots to offer.
This event will form part of Guyana’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations with proceeds going towards further improvements to the club’s facilities and day-to-day running.
In addition, funds will be allocated to three schools in the Number 19 to Gangaram area.
The tournament will involve 12 second division teams from the area. It will be five overs-a-side with no first division cricketer allowed.
Top clubs such as Canje Pathfinders, Betsy Ground Triple Stars, Kendall’s Union A, Rose Hall Community Centre and the hosts are expected to compete.
Incentives to the value of over $100 000 will be up for grabs with lots of gate prizes to be won.
