THE Baptist Convention of Guyana, over the weekend, held its Annual Youth Leaders Retreat at the Ministry of Education, Department of Culture, Youth & Sports’ Madewni Campsite, under this year’s theme, “Servanthood.”

Better Defined One (BD1) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Astell Collins was invited to speak to over 50 leaders drawn from Baptist churches across Guyana.

Christian Education Director Mr. Gifford Marshall and Pastor Roy Mc Garrell, who coordinated the weekend programme, expressed their delight at the response of the youths who participated in the activities.

Dr. Collins outlined the definition of leadership and responsibility, and noted that it was time that young people commit themselves to a more responsible lifestyle as he showed present day examples of situations of life.

He explained that one is free from one’s choices but not free from the consequences of one’s choices, and thus one must be very careful in choosing.

Collins, who was the late Dr. Myles Munroe’s Youth Ambassador and who now does leadership seminars in Dr Munroe’s honour, shared his experience of having the opportunity to live in South Africa for four and a half years, during which he conducted a number of motivational presentations to a wide cross section of South Africans and earned South Africa’s highest youth award as a non-national.
