THE Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) recently presented the Disability Act to United Kingdom lecturer Shak Fayed Mohamed Seid as it continues to raise awareness and need for support of this vulnerable group. The handing over was held at the CIOG Headquarters on Woolford Avenue. Minister within the ministry of Public Health, Dr Karen Cummings commended the CIOG for raising awareness on disability, and urged others to emulate their good work.
“Persons living with disability are simply ordinary persons seeking ordinary lives,” said Minister Cumming as she called for an end to marginalisation of person living with disability.
Mr Seid has been in Guyana since January and will be donating some US$1000 to the CIOG to assist disabled persons.
