Nurse denies stealing $500,000

A 32-year-old nurse was placed on $60,000 bail after being arraigned on a simple larceny charge before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
Sharmain Blair, a single mother of two, who resides at 148 Supply, East Bank Demerara appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts yesterday morning.
The charge read that Blair, during the month of April at Carmichael Street, stole from Author Manget’s Nova Scotia account the sum of $500,000. The defendant however denied the accusation.
Blair was represented by attorney, Dexter Todd, who, in making an application for bail, said his client did not pose as a flight risk and the fact is that she had been released on her own recognizance as station bail, pending her court appearance.
There were no objections to bail. The magistrate then placed her on bail and adjourned the matter until January 18.
The matter will be called again on February 4.
