THE gates of State House were yesterday opened to hundreds of children from across Georgetown for a luncheon hosted by President David Granger and First Lady Sandra Granger. The children’s party is part of a series being held in and around town by the President and First Lady in their mission to share joy and happiness in this Christmas season.
The State House crowd consisted of children from across central Georgetown, including Tiger Bay and children’s homes. The children were able to enjoy a number of games while being treated to lunch and gifts. President Granger even interrupted his usually busy schedule to speak briefly with the children, wishing all a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year, while encouraging them to continue being good children.
The First Lady warmly wished the children a Merry Christmas, noting that the holidays are a major part of their childhood.
Minister of Social Cohesion, Amna Ally; Minister within the Ministry of Social Protection, Simona Broomes; Minister within the Ministry of Education, Nicolette Henry; and Minister within the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Annette Ferguson, also helped in making the event a success.
