A MALE Police Constable stationed at the Guyana Police Force Headquarters has been taken into custody, along with another man after they were arrested, identified and admitted to being involved in a recent robbery and carjacking.Police in a release said the two committed the act on a taxi driver from Cane Grove, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara.
The police in their statement said the two, along with a woman, hired the man from the Mahaica Market on the day in question.
They reportedly told the man that they wanted to be taken to Bachelor’s Adventure, but when they arrived at their location, they robbed the taxi driver at gunpoint of his belongings and also took away his vehicle.
A report was made at the Vigilance Police Station and since then the police have been investigating the incident.
The three took away approximately $18,000 from the man, a cellphone and then drove off with his vehicle after forcing him out.
Police have since recovered the man’s stolen vehicle. It was parked in the Stabroek Market area with its keys inside, but the stereo system of the vehicle was missing.
The car is in police custody even as the police continue to hunt for the female who was also involved in the robbery.
