TALENTED Guyanese author Rawle Nelson will today be launching his very innovative and stirring book, ‘My HIV Story’.The book, which features the real-life stories of victims battling and coping with HIV/AIDS in the Caribbean, will be released today by the Ministry of Public Health, and is already widely used in Kenya, which has a high rate of persons battling with HIV/AIDS.
According to Nelson, several agencies have collaborated in making the regional launch of the book possible, among them the National Aids Programme Secretariat (NAPS), in collaboration with the National Care and Treatment Centre, and the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Nelson is an award-winning journalist in both health and the business sectors, and has spent over two decades covering health issues.
He has also founded media entities like News Alert (television newscast in Guyana), News Link (first tri-weekly newspaper in the OECS) WHICH WAS ESTABLISHED IN St. Kitts & Nevis, and Montserrat, and many others.
He is also the co-founder and managing director of a media consultancy and public relations company called Optimum Solutions, while he free-lances for a number of regional media houses.
He is also the president of the company, Media in Support of People living with HIV/AIDS, an OECS-based media-related group dedicated to reducing the stigmatisation and discrimination of HIV victims.
