ANTHONY Primo of 153 Laing Avenue, Georgetown appeared with co-accused Troy Abrams (no address stated) before Chief Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan, jointly charged with armed robbery committed on money changers Rayburn Fraser and Ossafo Ward on November 3 at America Street, Georgetown.Particulars of the charge they face allege that they robbed the money changers of a total of Gy$1.6M.

Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones opposed the men being granted bail, citing the nature and gravity of the offence. He said the men were both placed on ID parade and were positively identified.
Jones also alleged that the men belong to a gang that would normally terrorise money changers.

On the day in question, Jones said, approximately 10 gunmen daringly rode up on motorcycles and opened rapid fire on the money changers while grabbing millions of dollars from them. Jones said the men appeared from almost every direction, while firing into the air and at the money changers on America and Hincks streets during rush hour in the busy commercial area. They allegedly succeeded in carting off millions in both foreign and local currencies from the money changers.

The two unrepresented accused were remanded until December 11.

The 29-year-old Primo has also been charged with the murder of Shevon Gordon of Wismar, Linden. He had appeared in court in May of this year to answer that charge. In 2009, he had also been charged with robbery under arms.

Fraser was, earlier this year, shot in South Ruimveldt when he was robbed of more than one million dollars in cash and gold, but he managed to drive himself to the Georgetown Public Hospital and survive the ordeal.
