RNCF awards 10 children with scholarships at awards ceremony

THE Radio’s Needy Children Fund (RNCF) awarded 10 children with scholarships during its annual awards ceremony held at the studios of the National Communications Network (NCN) last month.One child from each region was awarded, having been selected by the Ministry of Education.

In a press statement, RNCF listed the awardees as Twyla Torres of Region One, Jaheim Odingo Karl of Region Two, Amisha Chatterpaul of Region Three, Shakina Jackman of Region Four, Meena Kumarie Gobin of Region Five, Antonia Ramcharran of Region Six, Shawn Williams of Region Seven, Treccian Roberts of Region Eight, Lucas Thomas of Region Nine, and Divannya Kallipersaud of Region Ten.

The children from Regions Four, Eight and Nine were absent from the ceremony.

The awardees were also given hampers of school supplies from Massy Technology.

Meanwhile, in the drawing of the Radio’s Needy Children Fund (RNCF) annual fund raising raffle at Fogarty’s store in Water Street, Frank De Abreu of 47 Craig Street Campbellville won the first prize of a one-karat diamond bracelet from Kings Jewellery World; Perry De Souza of 197 Pike Street won the second prize of a return trip to New York or Canada, sponsored by Fly Jamaica; and Pevria De Souza of 197 Pike Street, Kitty secured a return trip to Grenada from Caribbean Airlines.

Consolation prize winners were Kellisa Rodrigues of 956 Eccles EBD, who won a 32” Samsung television from Courts Guyana Inc; Abdool Mohamed of 33 Felicity EBD, who won a 7” Samsung tablet; and Romana Payne of J. C. Chandisingh Secondary School, who won an Aroma rice cooker/food steamer from the Gift Center.
