WITH all eyes in Caribbean motor racing focused on Guyana, drivers and riders are upping the ante of preparation and one competitor has placed fitness as one of his top priorities. Stephen Nobrega, a current 125cc motorcycle competitor says that he plans to keep pursuing fitness ahead of the November 14-15 CMRC race weekend, following a bout of racing injuries recently
He said, “Preparation is coming good so far, thanks to the help of my brother and father who have been helping to have all the work done on the bike. On my part I’m not 100% fit but I’m doing a lot of cycling to help with my fitness.”
“The bike is working well. What I’m basically doing is trying to get back where I was before my injury; so far it’s going great. The bike was recently rebuilt so I have not been riding a lot, but starting from this week I will be putting in a lot of seat time,” confirmed Nobrega.
He is confident this time around. The excitement is there, the level of competition is high and everyone has high expectations. “I feel good both mentally and physically,” he assured.
The 125cc rider plans to finish his races with podium spots, but he is cognisant of the fact that this is his first time back after a year and that everyone is faster.
