THE Youth and Women Empowerment Movement (YWEM) is a non-governmental organisation established to do social welfare work and to enrich societies by empowering youths and women through advocacy, education, training and service.Last Friday, the YWEM carried out one of its many projects, and according to its president, Sandra Tularam, children from the Sophia area were able to get their eyes tested free of charge, compliments of Eyewear Optical located on East Street, Georgetown.

Books and goodies were also given to the children. A few of those children will now need spectacles, and anyone desirous of assisting these children to obtain their spectacles is very kindly asked to contact:
