A FISHERMAN of Unity, Mahaica, was yesterday remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry after being accused of robbery on Father’s Day. Zahir Mohamed pleaded not guilty to the charge that said on Sunday, June 21 at Unity, Mahaica, he stole from Indroutie Narine $168,000 in cash and three cartons of cigarettes. In addition, he allegedly made use of personal violence on Narine.
The prosecution’s facts were not presented to the court and the matter was transferred to the Mahaica Magistrate’s Court for July 3.
