THE Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) has presented the fourth tour operator’s license to Old Fort Tours and Island Resort. Recently, the GTA has been ardently working with Tourism Businesses in Guyana to achieve 100% conformity with their respective regulation which they are to comply with.
Accepting this certificate on behalf of the company was Ms. Camille Boodhoo, who is renowned and reputable in Parika, on the East Bank of Essequibo offering travel and tour operation services. Ms. Boodhoo was charged by the Director of the Guyana Tourism Authority, Mr. Indranauth Haralsingh to continue to maintain the good work and strive for excellence in her operations, urging unregistered tourism businesses to register and become licensed with the GTA, emphasising the countless benefits that can be derived from doing so.

Old Fort Tours and Island Resort is the fourth Tour Operator to attain this license status after Wilderness Explorers, Roraima Tours and Bushmasters. The Tourism Regulations serve as a framework which operators should abide by, and has an objective of improving competitiveness thus strengthening Guyana’s Tourism Product.

The Guyana Tourism Authority will continue to vehemently pursue Tourism Accommodation Establishments, Tour Operators, Tourist Guides and Interior Lodges and Resorts to ensure these businesses offer a tourism product that is safe and of an outstanding quality for both domestic or international visitors.

The Guyana Tourism Authority is a semi-autonomous regulatory agency with a mandate to market and promote the sustainable development of tourism in Guyana.
