THE Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Wednesday urged motorists to practise greater care and caution when traversing roadways that are being used simultaneously by children.Children, whether walking or riding a bicycle, are apt to more than likely do the unexpected and motorists need to consider this when on the roadways and watch out for them,the police said in a statement.
The police also reported that recently, an eight-year-old girl was struck down in Freeman Street, East La Penitence, Georgetown, by a motorist who sped away from the scene. She is presently hospitalised.
A man has been charged and the matter is before the court.
As the GPF continues its traffic enforcement, up to Tuesday, March 3, 2015, there have been nineteen (19) road fatalities, compared to nineteen (19) for the corresponding period last year.
Finally,during the period February 22 to 28, 2015, a number of cases have been made against motorists for breaching the traffic laws.

Six (6) persons were charged for the soliciting of passengers (touting).
