PRESIDENT Donald Ramotar yesterday joined horse-racing fans around the country at the eighth annual Guyana Cup Horse-Racing event held at the Port Mourant Turf Club, Corentyne.

He was accompanied by Attorney-General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Mr. Anil Nandlall and Region Six officials.

The Head of State said that horse-racing is more than a sporting event; it is part of the culture of the Corentyne, of which he is happy to be part.
“Events like these we have to continue to promote; it has the potential of being another major tourist attraction,” the President said.
Meanwhile, Minister Nandlall commended the organisers of the event, and expressed the hope that next year’s event will be held under better rules and regulations.
The Guyana Cup is organised by Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Racing Stables, and is supported by a number of business entities.
