THE library in the village of Santa Mission benefited from an educational donation of 24 Collier’s Encyclopedia, donated by the Lions Club of Demerara Lioness yesterday at the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs.
Santa Mission Toshao, Mr. Aubrey Samuels, was happy to receive the donated encyclopedias from club president, Lioness Gillian Orderson. He said: “It is very good that we received this gift, since it will benefit the teachers

and students; and I want to thank the Lions Club of Demerara Lioness for this hearty donation.”
Club member Carole Persaud noted that the idea sprang from her sister’s visit to the village library, and Lion Orderson told this publication, “We want to meet the needs of persons. We not only want to concentrate on Georgetown, but also the remote areas in Guyana.”
The Lions Club of Demerara Lioness continues to provide support to several communities across Guyana, and is a proud member of the world’s largest service club organisation, which has more than 1.3 million members in approximately 45,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas across the world.
