PETITE dancer, Tiffany Clarke who was charged with the murder of her lover, Sonobia James at the Red Dragon Night Club in February 2011 has been freed after a jury Monday returned a not-guilty verdict in her favour.Clarke, who pleaded not guilty, was represented by lawyer George Thomas who had relied on a no-case submission, which was overruled by presiding judge, Justice Navindra Singh.
But the jury, by a unanimous verdict, found the accused not guilty of murder. And the accused was also found not guilty of the lesser count of manslaughter by a majority verdict of eleven to one.
Attorney-at-Law, Miss Dhanika Singh prosecuted. Clarke was on trial for the murder of James, who was categorized by prosecution witness, Corporal Gilkes as the aggressor in the battle between the two women on February 26, 2011.
According to the accused in her statement to the police, “I was being attacked by Sonobia when I pulled a knife. At the same time, Sonobia rushed towards me, and got bored accidentally.”
