Tattoo artist refused bail on robbery charge

TWENTY-SEVEN-YEAR-OLD tattoo artist Regan Ramiah, of Lot 142 Campbellville Housing Scheme, Georgetown waas charged with robbery and remanded to prison by Magistrate Ann McLennan on Thursday.He pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said it was committed on Monday, March 24, when, in company of another, he robbed Eshwardeen Singh of $45,000 cash.
Police Corporal Dinero Jones, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail for the defendant, citing the prevalence of the crime and the fact that violence was used in the commission of it.
Ramiah was refused pre-trial freedom and will make his next court appearance on April 9, before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, to whom the case has been transferred.
