THE REGAL Stationery and Computer Centre 12-over softball final will be played on Sunday at Golden Fleece ground on the Essequibo Coast, following the playing of the semifinals and an exhibition match. In the first semifinal which gets under way at 09:00hrs, Die Hard will battle Adventure before Cotton Field and Golden Fleece face each other in the second semifinal, with the winners clashing in the final for the first prize of $100 000 and trophy, leaving the runners-up to pocket $25 000 and trophy. However, prior to the playing of the final of the tournament, which got under way last year and saw 12 teams battle for a place in the semifinals which were suspended due to rain, a Regal XI will oppose a Select XI from the Cinderella County in a specially arranged 12 overs-a-side contest, with the winning team receiving a trophy and cash. According to a press release from the sponsors, after the culmination of this competition, a similar one will commence in Berbice, as they aim to further strengthen the camaraderie that is derived from the playing of the game across Guyana.
