NINETEEN-YEAR-OLD Ganesh Seecharran (no address given), who is charged with simple larceny, was ordered to lodge $80,000 bail, by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday. He pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that, between January 16 and 17, at Cummings Street, Bourda, Georgetown, he stole one pair of rear view mirrors and one antenna, among other things, together valued $81,000, property of Mark Adonis.
Police Inspector Michael Grant, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant is the owner of a Toyota car which he, usually, parks outside his yard because of limited space.
The Prosecutor said on January 16, about 23:00 hrs, Adonis parked the vehicle on his bridge, leaving everything intact and went to bed around 03:45 hrs the following morning.
He was awakened, by his father’s voice, in the house, shouting to someone at a window and, upon checking, he did not see anyone but discovered the articles mentioned in the charge missing.
Seecharran was represented by attorney-at-law Mr. Melville Duke, who made a bail application for him, stating that the defendant has a strong alibi, stating, that day he was at Wales Police Station, West Bank Demerara and that can be proved at the trial.
The case was put off to February 26.
