December armed robberies defendant refused bail

LORENZO Forde, 18, of Lot 4 Drysdale Street, Charlestown, Georgetown, was remanded to prison, by Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday, on two charges of robbery. He pleaded not guilty to the offences, details of one which said, on December 26, 2013, at High Street, Kingston, also in the city, being in company of another armed with a piece of broken bottle, he robbed Marvin Benjamin of one Toyota Fielder Wagon valued $2M, along with a $10,000 cellular phone and $8,000 cash.
Particulars of the other offence said, on December 30, 2013, he robbed Elijah Adams of one Toyota 212 Carina worth $1.5 M and, at the time of, during or before, he made use of personal violence on the victim.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, objected to bail, on the grounds of the seriousness of the crimes and said the defendant was identified on a parade a month ago.
Forde was represented by attorney-at-law Mr. Paul Fung-a-Fat, who made an unsuccessful application for Forde’s pre-trial freedom and the latter will have to remain incarcerated until February 17.
