And on the East Bank of Demerara, there have also been reports that a fourth former preparing for CSEC may now be in trouble with the law, after an altercation with another, during which he brandished a cutlass at the other teen.

The 15 year old aggressor, in the South Ruimveldt incident reportedly asked Simon for $20 and because he did not get it, became violent and chucked Simon.  Simon chucked him back and he pulled a scissors he had on his person and stabbed Simon in the chest.
Even though the school did not at the time of the incident report the matter to the Ministry of Education or the police, both entities were subsequently alerted and took prompt action. The Ministry of Education, on receiving the information, immediately dispatched a Welfare Officer to the hospital where they met the injured child and took appropriate action.
The wounded 14-year-old was sent home after being treated at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital.
When this newspaper visited the Covent Garden Secondary School, yesterday, where the cutlass incident occurred, it was tightly shut, since all teachers were required to be on the Region 4 march and rally in celebration of World Teachers’ Day 2013.
