CONTESTANTS in this year’s Miss Talented Teen pageant got the surprise of their lives two Thursday evenings ago when reigning Miss India Guyana, Ms. Katherina Roshana, paid them a visit during rehearsals at the YMCA on Thomas Lands and Camp Road.
During her little ‘pep’ talk with them, Katherina, who is also an International Peace Ambassador, specifically complimented the girls and encouraged them to rise to the occasion, conceding that it was no easy task for teens to face the public, as it takes not just physical but inner strength as well to undertake such an exacting task while still having to burn the proverbial midnight oil.
While at it, she also shared with them certain techniques she picked up along the way in terms of modelling and ‘working’ the catwalk, being a graduate of the world famous Barbizon School of Acting and Modelling in New York City, and having herself participated in many a pageant, both locally and internationally.
Among the things she taught them were poise, charm and the art of effectively communicating with the public.
