A trade forum is being held by the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA) in collaboration with GUYEXPO 2013 at the Guyana International Conference Center on October 3 under the theme: ‘Developments – Incentives – Exports’.
The programme which aims to promote and explore growth opportunities for ‘Made in Guyana’ products is scheduled to commence at 8.30am and run throughout the day until 3.30 pm.
The main objective of the forum is to provide information which will make it very easy for local businesses to do business with countries such as the United States, Brazil and China.
The programme will commence with remarks by GMSA President Clinton Williams and Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Irfaan Ali.
This will be followed by a presentation by an official from the United States Department of Commerce, Washington DC, on the topic: ‘New US Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and its impact on Guyanese Exporters of Food Products to the USA’.
Then there will be a presentation on: ‘Potential Business Opportunities in Northern Brazil in Manufacturing and Services’ by Serviço Brasileiro de Apoio às Micro e Pequenas Empresas (SEBRAE) followed by a presentation on ‘Sustainable Energy Initiatives in Guyana’ by Dr. Mahender Sharma, CEO of Guyana Energy Agency. In addition, there will be a presentation by a representative of Caribbean Export Development Agency (CEDA) on ‘CEDA in service to the Caribbean’.
And the main item in the session after lunch will be a presentation by representatives of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) titled: ‘Doing Business with China (documentation & validation of Chinese exporters)’.
Meanwhile, participants will be allowed to seek clarification from each presenter at the end of each presentation.
The day’s programme will close with a breakout or networking session between 2.30 pm and 3.30 pm when representatives of local companies can meet with the international companies to look at ways in which they can work together and collaborate for the realization of mutually beneficial business relationships.
