Body of ‘Doctor Love’ recovered after falling overboard in Kuribrong River – company to stand funeral, other expenses despite breach of SOP

THE body of 24-year-old Adrian Glasgow, also known as ‘Doctor Love’ and ‘Son, Son’, was discovered yesterday at 04:00am, since he went missing on Tuesday afternoon after falling overboard from a boat he was using without authorisation at a mining camp in Kuribrong River.

altYesterday the general manager of Japarts, whose name was only given as Terry, said that he received a call at approximately 07:00 am yesterday informing him that persons who were searching for the body of the young man had found him.
He related that the body was discovered about ten to fifteen feet from where Glasgow fell overboard.  And despite the unauthorised use of the boat which amounts to a breach of  the company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Terry told this newspaper that they would be honouring all obligations to the young man, including fully sponsoring the funeral and handing over to his family his salary for the period he worked, an amount of more than $100,000.
Following the tragedy on Tuesday, the company sent in officials and also accommodated the police from Georgetown to travel to the location to conduct investigations. The manager of the company said that the company is dealing with the matter very transparently and has been cooperating with the man’s family and the police.
The company also transported ice to the location to preserve the body of the young man until it came out. Glasgow’s body arrived in the city late last evening.
It was related that the police took statements from at least ten persons who were around when Glasgow joined the boat, and based on the initial investigation, police have come to the conclusion that the accident was a genuine one.
Terry explained that his company has very strict policies as it relates to security and the safety of workers on the sites. He added that he is not aware whether Glasgow joined the boat to go to the other side of the river for a personal errand, a joyride or for company business. He noted that Japarts has operations on both sides of the river.
When the man’s body was discovered there was blood oozing from his face which suggested that he was injured by the propeller of the boat. Glasgow leaves to mourn his parents, siblings, other relatives and friends.
