AFC ‘fat cats’ have destroyed the hard earned economic, social gains

I am a patriot who wants the best for his generation and our future generations. I have no plans of migrating so I want the best for my country since I intend to die here. However, I have made a terrible mistake when I erroneously believed that the AFC was the panacea that this country needs. But lo and behold Mr Ramjattan, the leader of the AFC, and the other ‘fat cats’ of the AFC have destroyed the hard earned economic and social gains made by the PPP/C government and they have now gone beyond redemption.

AFC’s Defence
Their amateur defence in the Kaieteur News  entitled ‘AFC debunks accusations of corruption’ only bears further testimony to the fact that these charlatans will go to the extreme to whitewash their corrupt practices and ineffectually try to hoodwink their few remaining members ( thank God the numbers are dwindling rapidly).
In that article, Khemraj Ramjattan the AFC leader, and Dominic Gaskin Party Treasurer and son-in-law of Opposition Leader, David Granger, made a futile attempt to defend the indefensible. The ‘learned lawyer’ and his ‘qualified accountant’ made the following submissions:
– The allegations are ‘outrageous’;
– It is a ‘desperate attempt to destroy the credibility’ of the AFC;
– It is an attempt ‘to tarnish the reputation of the Party’;
– Lying that I have not renewed my membership with the AFC since the PPP won elections, thereby insinuating that I have joined the PPP; and
– Lying about the submission of audited financial statements.

Unanswered Questions

– Why didn’t Gaskin submit the name(s) of the AFC’s auditor, if he exists?
– Why were audited financial statements NOT submitted at the conference and with the name (s) of the auditors?
– Why was the liability to Cathy Hughes which was in excess of $7M not included in the financial statements? Did the AFC’s auditors found this sum to be ‘immaterial’?
– Were those financial statements given to members at the National Conference accurate?
– Why did the AFC not enforce the motion of group accountability which was unanimously passed at the 2012 Conference? (This motion was moved by me.)
– Why were receipts not issued for donations in some cases?
– Why were carbon sheets not used to issue receipts in some cases?
– Are all membership dues accounted for? How come Ramjattan said that I have not paid my membership for two years when I paid my membership dues before the National Conference last year?

My submission to Gaskin

Gaskin said that all monies passed through the bank accounts but if he had read my article carefully he would have noted that I said that some monies collected from abroad were diverted for personal enrichment-they never passed through the bank account. Dr Shameer Ally in his resignation letter made mention about financial irregularities with regards to Party funds. This also happened in Ramayya’s case.
Furthermore, Gaskin admitted that ‘ the company extended us a line of credit…’( this is the company owned by Cathy Hughes) and I am aware that this is ‘normal business’ but what Gaskin failed to address was the fact that a liability in the sum in excess of $7M was not accounted for in the financial statements.
A CSEC student in accounting knows the Accruals of Matching Concept which states that ‘all income and charges relating to the financial period to which the financial statements relate should be taken into account without regard to the date of the receipt or payment.’ Therefore, even if Cathy Hughes did not receive that payment, it should have been reflected in the financial statements once it was incurred.
According to the Statement of Income and Expenditure for the period March 31 to February 28, 2012 the sum of $ 25,170,745 was spent on ‘Advertising and Printing’. I suppose that this was paid to Video Mega INC (Ms Hughes company enjoying the ‘fat’). If this was all the expense under that heading and a surplus of $464,643 was declared then it must be that the Party had the funds to pay off that liability and it was paid off. On the other hand, if that sum in excess of $25M did not include the $7M then the accounts are inaccurate since the sum under ‘Advertising and Printing’ should be in excess of $32M.
This same statement showed that $93,851,323 was collected as ‘Income’ and $93,386,680 was ‘Expenditure’. Therefore, if the sum of $7M is included then there should have been a deficit in excess of $ 6M. Is this AFC style accountability?
How about a forensic audit of the books of the AFC, Mr Gaskin? You people are experts in calling on the government for forensic audits; Chris Ram and Sasenarine Singh should do some house cleaning.

My submission to Ramjattan

The AFC leader, Mr Ramjattan never seems to get his ‘facts’ right. A good leader must always get his facts straight. This ‘leader’ said in his own inimitable and flawless lying style that I ceased to be a member of the AFC two years ago. He referred to me as a ‘former member.’ I have my receipt to prove that I paid my membership dues for last year before the 2012 National Conference. If I had not paid then I could not have attended and voted at that Conference. Ramjattan should know this; he is the ‘leader’. This is more shame and disgrace since it now seems that membership dues are not being accounted for. Ramjattan was the first to compliment me on DTV 8 in Berbice for the hard work I have done for the AFC but since I am not prepared to ‘co-operate with evil’ and see the destruction of my country, I am ‘expendable’. What a great politician this guy is! You have asked me to resign publicly but answer this question first:
Why did you continue to hold on to the MP position after you were kicked out of the PPP?
Therefore KING LIAR when you and the ‘fat cats’ resign I will follow with mine.

The ‘Alliance for Cover-ups’

The AFC executive has now made it clear that it will continue to cover-up the corrupt practices within the Party which is now in epidemic proportions and the continued ‘melt down’ is inevitable. Mr Charrandass Persaud is now gone.
During Ramayya’s Inquiry, the former General Secretary, Mr Sixtus Edwards, found Ramayya guilty of wrong doings and recommended that he be disciplined, yet the Party issued a Press release which said that it was ‘miscommunication and misunderstanding’. This was the reason why the election at the National Conference was rigged to get rid of him. Talk about rigging – Ramjattan and Hughes were selected, NOT elected to their offices, yet Hughes said that he rescinded his resignation due to the peoples’ demands. Which people? Mr Edwards spoke at that Conference of the need for strict accountability and that there was a one-man Finance Committee in the AFC. His frank and outspokenness cost him his office!

The ‘Alliance for Cabalism’

On a pro-rata basis the AFC is the most corrupt Party this country has ever seen and I am calling on the few remaining AFC members to go back home to the PPP. Get rid of this AFC cabal. It is clear that the ones who are filling their pockets through corruption will never leave their offices. Ramjattan loves to speak about the ‘PPP cabal’ but his cabal is the worse.
Long live democracy! Long live Guyana!
