Kirk Davis murder… Fugitive suspect’s wife in custody assisting with investigations

CRIME Chief, Seelall Persaud said, yesterday, that the wife of fugitive Rondy Jagdeo, for whom a wanted bulletin was issued, is in police custody assisting with investigations into the murder of biker Kirk Davis.

altThe Deputy Commissioner (Law Enforcement) said the woman, who was shot and injured when her husband discharged a volley of bullets at the well-known Davis on September 3, in front of his Eccles, East Bank Demerara home, was discharged from Woodlands Hospital on Monday and was promptly arrested.
Persaud added that she remains in detention and is being questioned as to the whereabouts of her husband, who was sighted in Suriname after he fled the jurisdiction following the shooting.
Last week, at a press conference hosted by Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Clement Rohee, Acting Police Commissioner, Leroy Brumell said he had heard that Jagdeo was sighted in the Dutch speaking neighbouring country but, during his visit there, was not aware that the hunted man had fled Guyana and was in Suriname.alt
The Top Cop said local police have since contacted their counterparts in Suriname and copies of Jagdeo’s picture were e-mailed there, while exploring all avenues of getting him here.

NO SLOTH
Brumell insisted there was no sloth, by the police, in putting out the wanted publication for Jagdeo, as they acted with the information they had at the time.
He pointed out that Jagdeo is not a licensed firearm holder.
Meanwhile, the post-mortem on the body of Davis, performed at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), by Dr. Nehaul Singh, revealed that he had been shot 15 times with a 9mm pistol and died from shock and haemorrhage, due to multiple gunshot injuries.
Davis, 30, was shot first while in the back passenger seat of the Water Street businessman’s car before being dragged out of it and shot several more times.
Reports said the businessman, his wife and another relative had gone to the Davis residence to confront him on an issue during which an argument ensued.
Jagdeo had driven there in a silver Toyota Premio and Davis, reportedly, went straight into the back passenger’s seat, where the row developed when the former accused him of having an affair with his wife.
After a few minutes, the 28-year-old suspect left the driver’s seat, walked toward the back door of the vehicle, pulled a gun and discharged a few rounds which struck Davis.
In his angry state, Jagdeo took Davis out of the vehicle and riddled him with bullets in front of the victim’s Seventh Street, Eccles, East Bank Demerara residence.
