Man jailed, fined for cocaine smoking utensil

FORTY-THREE-YEAR-OLD Keith Tuesday (no address given) was sentenced to one year imprisonment and ordered to pay a $5,000 fine yesterday, on conviction for possession of a utensil used for smoking cocaine.

Magistrate Judy Latchman inflicted the penalties on the convict after he indicated he wished to change his plea on his second Court appearance, since he has to take care of the mother of his child who is pregnant.
The case was first called, on Friday, August 9 and he was remanded to prison.
However, after the charge was read to him, again, he pleaded guilty to the offence that said it was committed on Thursday, August 8 at Alexander Street, Bourda, Georgetown, where he had an improvised pen cover.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, told the court that, on that day around 17:00 hrs, ranks conducted a raid and searched a room occupied by Tuesday, in which they made the find and an analyst test positively proved that the utensil was for the purpose.
The prosecutor indicated that the self-employed convict is presently serving one year imprisonment for trafficking 99 grammes of cannabis sativa (marijuana) and had previously completed two months for an assault conviction.
The magistrate told Tuesday the sentence she imposed will begin only after he completes the current term.
