BK WesternTigers looking for back-to-back victory

STILL basking from their 2-0 win over Fruta Conquerors last Sunday evening, BK Western Tigers will be looking to register their second victory from as many matches when they match technical and tactical skills with Camptown this evening at the Tucville ground from 18:00hrs.

Camptown, who drew 0-0 with Santos also on Sunday, will however have other ideas, since they will be seeking their first win the Georgetown Football Association’s (GFA) Georgetown Zone Premier League competition which features six participating teams looking to qualify for the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) Premier Cup competition scheduled to get under way soon.
Alpha United and Guyana Defence Force (GDF) have been awarded automatic spots following Alpha United’s triumph in the GFF Super League 2012/2013 season.
GDF, on the other hand, won the GFA’s President Beer 2013 League.
The feature match on tonight’s card is one between Pele and Fruta Conquerors.
This match, however, is in limbo as Pele, who on Sunday last were scheduled to play the feature match against Riddim Squad failed to show up, thereby giving Riddim Squad a walkover victory.
According to GFA’s vice-president (Competitions Committee) Mark Phillips, the GFA’s executive committee will meet shortly to discuss Pele’s fate for their action.
Pele coach Cecil Jaques said his team would not be participating in the competition until the club is guided by the GFF regarding their status.
Jaques, a former national goalkeeper said he does not see why they have to qualify, since they have played in the GFF-organised Premier Cup on two consecutive occasions, the last time being last year when Pele lost in the final “so how come you have to qualify now,” Jaques asked.
For tonight’s opening game, Western Tigers’ attack will be led by Phillip Rowley (capt.) with support expected from strikers Gavin Wilson, Randolph Wagner and Irvin Lythcott as well as midfielder Jerome Richardson.
The defence will be marshalled mainly by Solomon Austin and Sherman David. Others in the lineup include Leroy Pedro, Dorin Benjamin and custodian Deryck Carter.
In their match against Fruta Conquerors, Lythcott and Wagner were the goalscorers.
