13th Annual DeSinco Trading cycle programme set for Saturday

THE 13th Annual DeSinco Trading 11-race cycle programme, organised by national cycle coach Hassan Mohamed, is set for Saturday on the inner circuit of the National Park.

The programme is being staged under the Degree brand for which DeSinco Trading is the sole distributer.
The 11-race programme which commences at 09:00hrs will see competition in a number of age groups with the feature event being a 35-lap affair for schoolboys and novices with six prime prizes as well as a cash incentive up for grabs.
A 10-lap event is also on the cards for juveniles along with five-lap races for veterans 50 years and under, veterans 50 years and over and upright cyclists.
Three-lap races will be staged for BMX riders 12-14 years and 9 to 12 years.
There will also be one race for BMX boys and girls 6-9 years of age.
Last year, Marlon ‘Fishy’ Williams came out on top in the feature 35-lap event. He clocked one hour, 14 minutes and 25 seconds.
Akeem Wilkinson was the winner of the juveniles 10-lap race in a time of 23 minutes 25 seconds, while Alfie Soonaram registered seven minutes eight seconds to win the BMX Boys 12-14 years three-lap event.
With 13 victories to his name so far this year, the in-form Alanzo Greaves is highly tipped to win Saturday’s feature race. Of his 13 victories this year, seven of them have been in the National Park while the others were during road races.
Greaves, a product of Mohamed’s `Teach Them Young’ programme who two weeks ago won the Ricks and Sari feature 35-lap race, will however have to be wary of the likes of Robin Persaud, junior road race champion Raynauth Jeffrey and Warren McKay among others.
When he (Greaves) chalked up his last victory, Persaud was looking extremely dangerous early in the race, but subsequently suffered a puncture during the 11th lap and dropped out of contention.
Representatives of DeSinco Trading will witness the day’s activity and make the presentation of prizes to the respective winners.
