Since around 21:30 hrs the crowd was already swooning at the very reverberating hits belted out from the powerful stereo sounds and everyone was definitely having a grand time.
When the singer appeared on stage just after midnight the crowd was already in a feverish frenzy and he was received with thunderous applause and screams of approval. And this time the singer really went way out to please his fans, judging from his saucy lineup of male and female dancers who added more spice and fervour to his performance.
As the horns blared and confetti showered from the festive skies the fans screamed in wild abandon as the smiling Pepe appeared dressed also in bright festive colours. And the dancers he brought certainly turned up the heat in the National Park, executing some salsa, rhumba and other associated dance moves that generated scorching, festive energy all around.
And fans had travelled from far and wide to see Pepe perform for the first time in Guyana.
And Pepe certainly did not disappoint moving from the more reverberating hits before simmering down into his more soothing ballads. Then he turned up the heat again and took fans to a screeching crescendo of excitement with the best of his song.
The organisers maybe was expecting a much larger crowd but the Brazilians came out in their numbers, and even the Guyanese were well represented there too, alongside a sizeable batch of foreigners.
Things took another exciting swing when the talented Banda Desejo took to the stage and immediately the crowd reacted nicely to the ‘electric ballads’. For sure many seemed not to understand the musical dialect, but who cares? The beats were scorching enough to get all to their feet.
The resounding welcome supporters gave Pepe when he came on stage shortly after midnight was almost deafening. The artiste and his dancers took command of the crowd and in his two-hour performance, belted out hit after hit to the pleasure of the crowd that included not only adults but children as well.
