45 youths graduate at Arya Samaj Youth Camp

Forty–five youths, comprising 24 boys and 21girls, recently, graduated after successfully completing a five-day training course at a youth camp organised by the Guyana Central Arya Samaj (GCAS) and held at the Enmore Arya SamaJ mandir, East Coast Demerara.

The youths whose ages ranged between eight and 16 were drawn from various mandirs from the East Coast Demerara and Corentyne, Berbice. They all received certificates of attendance and participation.
During the five –day camp the youths were schooled in various topics including youth leadership, gender based violence, yoga and meditation, moral values, Hindi and music among others.
Speaking on behalf of the participants at the closing ceremony Ms. Reena Ramharak stated that the camp was a truly wonderful experience which had enlightened her colleagues. She expressed gratitude to all the presenters and made special mention of Mr. Ashish Kumar Khandge, an Indian national who spearheaded the lecture sessions.
The closing ceremony also saw presentations by the treasurer of the GCAS, Pandit Kamta Samaroo on the 16 Sanskars; Dr Fred Sukdeo on the history of the Arya Samaj in Guyana and by the Secretary of the West Demerara Arya Samaj, Jaidev Dudhnath on the values of a vegetarian diet.
Meanwhile, Dudhnath in brief remarks congratulated the parents of the participants whom he thought showed a keen sense of responsibility and care for the welfare of their children.
“I am really happy that you have recognised the importance of education…today your children are better equipped to face some of the challenges ahead of them,” he opined.
Turning to the graduands Dudhnath also congratulated and urged them to impart some of the knowledge they acquired into their lives.
