A twelve-year old-girl whose mother died last June was remanded to the Juvenile Detention Centre in Berbice after her father said he was unable to control her propensity to wander.
Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs Marcus, presiding in the New Amsterdam Court, ordered that a probation report on the offender’s background be prepared by July 29.
Her fishmonger father revealed that his pre-teen daughter was twice housed at the Juvenile Detention Centre, and was subsequently sent to the New Opportunity Corps; but he and his wife had then begged the court to give her another chance.
But the juvenile reported that while she did wander off for three days, she had subsequently returned home, only to be chased out of the house by her father.
Police said that on July 7, 2013, at Fort Ordinance, being under the age of sixteen years, the child was found wandering.
