TODAY at 19:00hrs, a draft National Master Plan for the development of the Guyana Zoological Park under the Three Parks Initiative will be unveiled in the parking lot of the National Park’s Carifesta Avenue entrance in Georgetown.
The Three Parks Initiative is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment, the Protected Areas Commission, the Beharry Group of Companies, and Conversation International. It is designed to upgrade the facilities and enhance the security of parks in Georgetown.
This activity will also mark the beginning of a long-term effort to modernize and transform the Guyana Zoo by implementing the highest international standards in zoo animal welfare, and by allowing Guyanese visitors to connect with the rich natural world that exists beyond the limits of Guyana’s urban landscape.
Today’s master plan presentation is expected to be graced by the presence of stakeholders within and outside of the industry. They are expected to contribute to the transformation of the Guyana Zoo and Guyana’s green spaces.
