THERE is a peculiar situation that one can consider, or even conclude, is a great coincidence.
It is a story of two well known gentlemen, who were once very high- profile members of not only the PPP/C party, but also pivotal in its power structure. One of them, the first to walk out from the party, citing undemocratic postures and other allegations, left in a rather contentious manner. The other, a very senior party elder, resigned from party membership because of what he alleged to be government’s reluctance to combat corruption.
It is a matter of common knowledge that both these persons were once presidential aspirants, with a well known story making the rounds about a bitter quarrel between the two, that put paid to their respective ambitions.
But there is an even more peculiar observation, and that is since both of them left, from their once political home base, they have been making statements alleging all manner of shortcomings in the PPP/C Government.
Now one is bound to ask the inevitable question, that given the nature of the allegations, especially as to its systemic nature, why only since they have left their party, is the public being informed about these “happenings”?
Had either of them ascended to the presidency, would one have been hearing these charges?
