Jehovah’s Witnesses begin “God’s Word Is Truth!” Conventions

JEHOVAH’s Witnesses plan to host their annual conventions in Guyana during the month of July, and have commenced an accompanying campaign to invite the public to attend.

The campaign has already begun, with members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses congregations visiting residents in their respective communities to deliver a personal invitation to attend the conventions.
The theme for this year’s convention is “God’s Word Is Truth!” There will be two conventions held in Guyana. The one in Berbice began on July 12th at the Kennard Memorial Turf Club, and will end on July 14; and the other will be held at the National Park in Georgetown from July 19th to July 21st.
Similar conventions are being held around the world, according to a press statement from the Witnesses, and the convention theme this year is significant because it underscores a core family value for Jehovah’s Witnesses. “Witness families embrace the Bible as the most trustworthy guide and source of advice in these troubled times, and we feel that the public will likewise benefit from, and enjoy, the varied and practical programme.”
Personal Bible study is a priority for Jehovah’s Witnesses. Each week, Witness families devote an entire evening to Bible study and research, which they call “Family Worship.”
The convention this year will provide families and individuals with fresh new resources for family and personal Bible study.  This is the ‘something new’ that Witnesses anticipate receiving each year from their convention programmes.
Highlights include an intriguing talk entitled “What is truth?” and it will examine why we can trust God’s Word, the Bible; two dramatic plays will bring Bible stories and their lessons to life; and there will be the ordination of new members.
Everyone is extended a robust invitation to the conventions; no admission charge applies, and there will be no collection taken at these meetings.
A complete programme schedule can be seen along with a video about the conventions at www.jw.org. The local contact is Winston Ramalho (624-8960).
