The IAC asked why, after serving a decade with utmost professionalism in the capacity of Chief Elections Officer, only now has the Commission opted not to accept his request for renewal?
“The IAC considers the renewal as routine and questions the need for legal advice for such.
“The IAC is not unmindful of the position of the Commission as expounded in the public domain. This has caused the IAC to believe that it not just a mere attempt to deny Mr. Boodhoo his contract renewal, but a deliberate conspiracy to remove him from the post.
“The IAC strongly believes that the non-renewal of the contract was as a result of deliberate targeting of Mr. Boodhoo by elements in the Commission and society, for reasons which can only be interpreted as being governed by self-interest. The IAC is not oblivious of the intent of such glaring self interest.
“The IAC calls on GECOM not to stall the renewal of Mr. Boodhoo’s contract and wishes to remind the Commission that any further delay would only exacerbate the current violation of his rights. The IAC hopes that better judgement would prevail and that there can be a swift resolution of this matter,” the IAC statement concluded.
