Essequibo serial rapist on the run : – after raping 58-year old woman

A man who is considered a serial rapist has been operating in the villages of Hampton Court and Devonshire Castle on the Essequibo Coast and he is now on the run after raping a 58-year-old sickly widow Friday morning at around 03:0hours    Reports said the woman who lives alone in a flat wooden and concrete building near two deserted houses at Hampton Court was brutally raped despite her cries for help and mercy.  The woman burst into tears while breaking her story to the media, saying that she had been raped for the third time in several months and it seems as though the police are unable to find and arrest the rapist.
According to the widow she cannot cook or wash for herself. She said her sister and other relatives who live nearby always send food and water for her.
Recalling the night she was raped the mother of one grown daughter said she was in her bedroom  sleeping and thought it was daybreak already and opened the front door of the house and ventured outside calling for Danny, a neighbour who usually slept in a hammock in the verandah of the house. According to the rape victim there was no answer from Danny but she was suddenly grabbed from behind by her neck by somebody and pushed into the house. The woman said she realisd that it was a man who was holding her after he started to curse her, ordering her to shut her mouth as he threatened to kill her.
The widow said the man then pushed her into the room onto the bed and warned her not to make noise as he ripped her clothes off. She said she begged and pleaded with the man not to rape her because of her sick condition, but the man replied sternly that he has to do what he came for.
She said the man who had short hair and is short in height pressed a coconut iron grater against her neck while raping her saying that Danny owed him some $30,000.
On Friday morning the woman said she saw Danny on the road with his friends whom he was drinking with during the night and called him and told him what had happened to her. She said more people came over and the police were summoned to the scene.
According to the woman, the police arrived promptly and conducted investigations and also took her to the Suddie Hospital for a medical examination. She is the third woman to have been raped in Devonshire Castle and Hampton Court in recent months.
Residents are calling on the police to step up their investigations and to patrol the areas more often during the night. They are also calling for drug addicts and bush rum bar owners to be arrested and placed before the court.
