GASA July Sprint meet set for July 5-7

OFFICIAL trials for the upcoming Goodwill Swimming Championships are expected to be included in the 2013 July Sprint swim meet being hosted by the Guyana Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) at the National Aquatic Centre (NAC), Liliendaal, July 5-7.

For those swimmers, this will be their last chance to qualify to be a part of the Guyana team to participate in the regional Championships to be held in Barbados from August 16 to 18; where they will compete against swimmers from Suriname, Barbados and Trinidad &Tobago.
Last year Guyana supplied a 26-member team to participate in the short course event, when it was held locally at the NAC. The event was won by Suriname, while Guyana placed fourth. Each country will be allotted a maximum of 40 swimmers to participate in the event.
The July Sprint trials will open on Friday afternoon, July 5, with the 200m freestyle, 100m butterfly, 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly.
The 100m IM, 200m IM, 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke events will follow on Saturday, while on Sunday will be the 100m backstroke, 50m freestyle, and 100m breaststroke. Entries will close at 17:30hrs on June 29, at the Colgrain Pool.
Events are open to all swimmers from the 8-and-under to the 18-and-over categories.
All participants will be expected to pay an entry fee of $200 per event. There will be no registration fee. Participants may enter any number of events within an age category.
