Man on cop assault, other charges granted bail

THIRTY-EIGHT-YEAR-OLD Paul Singh, of Japarts in Croal Street, was granted $30,000 bail, yesterday, when he appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman on three charges.

He pleaded not guilty to the offences which said that on Sunday, June 16, on Station Street, Kitty, also in Georgetown, he assaulted a policeman, resisted arrest and behaved in a disorderly manner.
Defence Counsel Basil Williams said the defendant was at a religious function in Kitty when he heard an argument between one of his friends and a group of men and tried to intervene but was arrested by police who were summoned.

But Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, said Singh had parked his motor car on a bridge and that caused the problem.
Singh was ordered to post $10,000 bail on each charge and return to Court on July 5.
