KIT Maxwell, 29 and Kurt Browne, 33, both appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell Thursday , jointly charged with simple larceny.
They pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on May 1, they stole, from Steven Bourne, the front of a forklift valued $90,000.
Police Sergeant Bharat Mangru, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant is a scrap metal dealer who bought the piece of equipment and stored it at Madewini, East Bank Demerara, from where the two defendants took it without any consent.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Dexter Todd, representing Maxwell, told the Court that the defendant resides at Lot 142 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown and has no previous or pending case
Other Defence lawyer, Mr. Samuel Archibald, for Browne, said the man he represents has a fixed place of abode, as well, at Lot 637 West Ruimveldt, in the city, where he is the principal breadwinner for his mother, uncle and younger brother.
The prosecutor had no objection to bail and the men were each ordered to post $80,000 surety and the case was transferred to Providence Court, also on East Bank Demerara, for June 27.
