TWO Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) security guards, Cecil Williams, 53 and Shana James, 42, both of Lot 933 Sophia, Greater Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore yesterday, on individual charges of simple larceny.
Each pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which alleged that, between May 24 and 25, while on duty in Georgetown, they stole a water pump, valued $87,000, property of GPOC.
Police Sergeant Ramsahoye Rambajue, prosecuting, objected to pre-trial freedom for the defendants, citing the nature of the crime and the penalty attached to it.
However, the objection was overruled and the duo secured the grant on $75,000 individual surety.
The case will be called, again, on June 14.
