GUYANA Power & Light Inc. (GPL), yesterday, in an effort to foster better relations, urged customers who may have difficulties, be it a faulty connection or a sparking wire, to inform its Emergency Call Centre at the earliest.
Supervisor of the Centre, Ms. Carol Damon said, once there is a problem, persons should not hesitate to contact GPL.
She said that when a complaint is recorded by a staffer in cases of emergencies, a reference number is issued and, in addition, GPL would take a telephone number and the name of the complainant, so as to get directions to the site.
Damon assured that emergencies are dealt with as they are reported and, once there is a report; it is acted on, since there are crews located in several parts of the country.
She offered the advice when responding to a complaint by a resident of Alliance, Canal Number Two Polder, West Bank Demerara, who reported sparks from GPL conductors (wires) on a pole for the past two weeks.
The resident told the Guyana Chronicle that, although he notified GPL about the occurrence, there has not been any response yet.
The man added that noises are also emanating from the pole and he speculated it is only a matter of time before there is a fire or “something” which poses a threat to life and property.
